SOME SUGGESTIONS

simple is always better

For portrait sessions, I recommend keeping outfits simple. The goal is to showcase you, not your clothes.

Solid colors always look great because they put more focus on you. Solid clothes also help me during the editing process (stray hairs, and wrinkles in fabric are a lot easier to fix when you wear solid colors.).

Be aware that darker colors do make you appear more slender on camera.

If you can, try to avoid logos, graphics and illustrations (unless of course it happens to be a school or activity related logo). Patterns, logos, graphics, and illustrations can be distracting. They can also be trendy, and make photos look dated after a few years.

pick complimentary colors

Pick colors that compliment your skin tone.

Fortunately, there is a whole science behind this... For example, a warm toned person will look great in earthy tones, whereas a cool toned person looks amazing in colors like blues and greens.

make sure you have options

A good rule of thumb is to pick at least one dressy option and one casual outfit.

It’s always fun to keep one outfit neutral and simple, and another outfit a little louder with a bold pop of color.

flowy dresses

A Flowy dresses look great!

Choose a flowy dress for the cutest poses (flowy being the key word there)!

Whether it’s a mini or maxi, make sure it has plenty of fabric so you can twirl and move around with ease.

Flowy dresses aren’t just comfortable and flattering for every body type, but they also allow for SO many varieties of posing.

minimize jewelry

Jewelry can be a big distraction.

When picking jewelry, try wearing smaller, minimalistic pieces.

minimize makeup

Don't worry about this one!

It's a lot easier for me to make your skin look flawless, and your eyes pop when you keep your makeup minimal.

just one more thing...

Your senior photoshoot is such a momentous time. You’ll look back at these photos for the rest of your life, and your whole family will want to frame your lovely face.

Sticking to a timeless look for at least one outfit will help ensure that your pictures never look dated when displayed.
